Love, love this wine and producer!! I believe you're spot on with the usefulness of benchmarks when exploring terroirs etc. Would be fascinated to see a list of some recommended benchmark mines for all the Cab Franc AOPs in the Loire (and the rest of the world tbh)
I think that is a great suggestion. I will begin to compile this information based on my tastings! As always, thank you for reading and for your thoughtful comment. 🙏
Villeneuve is hard to come by in my neck of the woods. I was able to snag a couple of bottles of 2019 "Le Grand Clos" (on sale no less!) from one of my usual sources. Thanks for the link to your past review. Loved the Pointillism analogy. Like Tom, I'm interested in benchmark Cab Francs from the Loire Valley. Unlike Tom, I don't care about the rest of the world. ;^)) Have a good'un!
Thank you for your comment, Michael! I never quite understood why the wines from Ch de Villeneuve aren’t more widely distributed in the U.S. They are one of the front runners in the region qualitatively and always well-priced. But I’m glad you found some of the 19 Grand Clos. I’d tuck those away for a while. I’m still finding the 19s overall a bit closed and unresolved. Glad you enjoyed the video! I just gave it another watch, and I’ll have to do that exercise again sometime! 😁 As always, thank you for reading and watching, and for your generous support! ❤️🙏
